Step-by-step explanation:

let, the 1st no be x and 2nd no be x + 2

so , x ( x + 2 ) = 143

x² + 2x - 143 = 0

comparing the equation from ax² + bx + c = 0 we get , a = 1 , b = 2 , c = - 143

Sridhara

Acharyya's formula.

 \frac{ - b \: ± \: \sqrt{ {b}^{2} - 4ac} }{2a} = \frac{ - 2 \: ± \: \: \sqrt{ { - 2}^{2} - 4.1.( - 143)} }{2.1} \\ \frac{ - 2 \: \: ± \: \sqrt{4 + 572} }{2} \\ \frac{ - 2 \: ± \: \sqrt{576} }{2} \\ \frac{ - 2 + 24}{2} = \frac{22}{2} = 11 \\ \frac{ - 2 - 24}{2} = \frac{ - 26}{2} = - 13

therefore , 11 and -13 are the roots of given equation.
