M Hamel appeared to be transformed man now as earlier he used to scold Franz for coming late to school and now he realised that he is also responsible for not teaching french properly and often send Franz for watering his flowers and giving holiday when he wanted to go for fishing.

The reason for this transformation is that France had lost battles and orders has come from Berlin to to teach only German in schools thus it was the last lesson of M Hammel in his 40 years faithful service.
