as the metal is bivalent , we can take example iron, whose valency is also two. the valency of sulphate(SO4) is 2. As both valency are same, we can reduce them to 1. on interchanging valency, we get compound FeSO4. In phosphate, as phosphate's valency is 3 , the valency will not be reduced and the compound formed will be FePO4
