Answer:

Gregor Mendel is known as father of genetics because of his experiment of pea plant. In this experiment he studied 7 different traits of the pea plant: pod shape, pod color, seed color, seed shape, length of plant stem flower color, and flower position.

Mendel self fertilized the true breeding parent generation until the true bred of all seven traits are expressed. After the self fertilizing he bred two different true breeding parent pea plants and the produced generation is termed it as F1 generation. F2 generation is also produced by self fertilizing two F1 generation pea plants of same traits.

By this experiment he showed that each trait is follow a loyal transmission to next generation independently of other trait, on the basis of dominant and recessive pattern only.
