Answer:

1.Three witches meet Macbeth and Banquo on the heath (marshes) as the men return from battle. They predict that Macbeth will be named Thane of Cawdor and King of Scotland and that Banquo will be the father of kings.

2.Thane of Cawdor

Shortly after the witches disappear, Ross and Angus arrive on the scene to inform Macbeth that King Duncan has given him the new title, Thane of Cawdor, which trills Macbeth and incites his ambition to become the king of Scotland.

3. From evaluating Lady Macbeth, the doctor says that she is sleepwalking and confessing her sins. He said that the problem is within herself and cannot be fixed by anyone but herself.

Explanation:

1.Macbeth's plan focuses on murdering Duncan, but he also has to get rid of Duncan's two sons, Malcolm and Donalbain, who are next in line to the throne. Duncan has already named Malcolm as his heir.

2., to kill Malcolm and Donalbain along with Duncan would have been an even more challenging mission for Macbeth to act upon in one night. He is scarcely able to carry out the plan to dispatch the king, let alone other nobles who would put up more of a fight during any attack.

Furthermore, Malcolm and Donalbain make effective scapegoats for the murder of their father amongst those who are skeptical of Macbeth's condemnation of the servants.

In terms of the drama, Malcolm's flight in particular assists in offering a loose end to the incident which will be neatly resolved in the final act.

3.Macduff has discovered that the King has been murdered.
