No I don't think so that the tragedy in macbath was madeup by his fate... Even I think that the real cause of tragic is ambition of his wife.
But from another side it is also for fate as he got that type of wife..

Dramatically, a tragedy is the story of a great person with one fatal flaw which leads to his downfall.
Macbeth had everything going for him. He was a hero, popular with the king, given new honours after battle.
Then the witches put evil ambition before him and before Banquo. Note that Banquo resolves to forget what he has heard, not act on it. Macbeth can't put it aside, and eventually grabs for himself instead of waiting to see what would happen. He murders his king, and sets in train a series of events that spin out of control.
Each murder is worse than the last, and eventually he discovers just how tricky the witches are, and is killed by MacDuff.
Ambition was his downfall.
In simple Words...Macbeth is a tragedy because he was ultimately after getting the throne. In order to do that, he killed his best friend because his wife told him too. The guilt got to both Macbeth and his wife eventually leading to their deaths.
