Machines A and B produce 8000 clips in 4 hr and 6 hr respectively. The machines work in alternate hours. If A starts first, then how much time will be required to produce 8000 clips?

║⊕ANSWER⊕║

Work Rate of A = 8000/4

                           = 2000 clips per hour

Work Rate of B = 8000/6

                          = 1333.33 clips per hour

Let, 2 hour = 1 unit of time.

Work rate of A and B together = 2000 + 1333.33

= 3333.33 clips per unit time

In two work unit of time, clips created = 2 * 3333.33

                                                                  = 6666.66 unit

Rest unit = 1333.34

It will be completed by A in,

= 1333.34/2000

= 0.66 hours

= 40 min

Total time taken = 2 unit of time + 40 min

                              = 2 *2 + 40

                               = 4 hour and 40 min
