Mack required percentage = 40%
Total number of marks he got = 190
He failed by 10 marks.
So, total marks needed to pass = 190 + 10
= 200
As it is said that 40% is needed to pass so 200marks is the 40% of the total marks.
1% of total marks = 200/40 = 5 marks
So, 100% of marks = 5×100
= 500 Marks
So, the maximum marks that he could have gotten will be 500marks.
