The authority of the Vijayanagar ruler was recognised by Jaya Gowda. He is also renowned for his social reforms and his role in Bengaluru's construction of temples and water reservoirs. After leaving Yelankanadu, he was successful in designing and building Bengaluru Fort and Bengaluru Pete, the two structures that served as the foundation for the modern city of Bengaluru.
