Here we are given that Madhu bought 1 kg rice and from 1 kg his mother made 40 pithas

We will use this information to calculate the weight of rice to make 1 pitha

40 pithas = 1 kg

 1 pitha   = 1 / 40 kg

Now, we have to calculate the required quantity of rice to make 120 pitha

1 pitha = 1 / 40 kg

120 pitha = 120 × ( 1/ 40)

               = 3 kg

Hence, 3 kg of rice is required to make 120 pithas.
