Magnesium and oxygen combine in the ratio of 3:2 by mass to form magnesium oxide. What mass of magnesium would be required to react completely with 14 g of oxygen gas? Explain your answer.

3:2 ratio of combination of Mg and O will result in MgO, in which 24g of Mg reacts with 16g of O

As, 16g of O reacts with 24g of Mg

Thus, 14g of O = 24 × 14/16 = 21g
