-Magnesium Mg atomic no. is 12 it's electronic configuration is (2,8,2) therefore it's outermost shell has 2 electron which means it has valency 2(metallic nature)

- Chloride Cl atomic no. is 17 it's electronic configuration is (2,8,7) therefore it's outermost shell has 7 electron which means it has valency 1( nonmetallic nature)

--Then they both shares electrons to complete their octets
