If you are given litmus paper to check the nature of the product
formed in the above two reactions, what will be the observation?

magnesium oxide will turn red litmus paper blue which indicates that it is basic in nature.

Whereas sulphur dioxide is acidic in nature as it turns blue litmus paper red.
