Magnesium powder reacts faster than magnesium ribbon with dilute sulpuric acid. Give a reason.

Mg has the greater surface area as compared to that of Mg ribbon and the increased surface area allows the better interaction with sulfuric acid and hence more reaction takes place. as magnesium powder have less surface area as compared to the magnesium ribbon, it reacts more rapidly in dilute sulphuric acid.
