When Magnesium is burnt, the ash is formed. This ash is Magnesium oxide.
2Mg + O2 ——> 2MgO
When the Magnesium oxide is dissolved in water, it forms Magnesium hydroxide.
MgO + H2O ——> Mg(OH)2
This is a combination reaction. (And also chemical changes)
