Answer:Magnesium starts floating due to the bubbles of hydrogen gas sticking to its surface.As the Bubbles move up it pulls Mg with it. Magnesium reacts with hot water only. During the reaction, the hydrogen liberated sticks to the surface of magnesium which causes it to float.
