I will give u a simple technique to determine the direction of current and magnetic field.
It is called ampere's swimming rule. Consider a man swimming along the direction of a wire .If the electric current enters his feet and leaves his head, then the north pole of the needle of the magnetic compass will be deflected towards his left hand.
