Yes, a current carrying conductor makes magnetic field around it, due to each electron moving in it, a magnetic field is set up..
If fillings are in vicinity of magnetic field and magnetic field is strong enough it will attract the fillings..
If fillings are in vicinity of magnetic field and magnetic field is strong enough it will attract the fillings..
