Usually, the softer magnetic materials are used in creating various kinds of electrical machines and useful instruments. The soft iron perfectly suits the criteria needed for being used as magnetic material that is rapidly utilised for different commercial purposes.

Apart from the pure iron; some alloys of iron with nickel, cobalt and silicon can also be used as the magnetic materials due to their favourable qualities of maximum permeability, high saturation, little remanent induction and slight coercivity.
