The magnetic moment of a single-turn current loop of aluminum wire of area A, carrying a current I in a wire of diameter d is IA.

The torque experienced by a current carrying coil of N turns placed in a magnetic field is given by,

\vec\tau=NI\vec A\times \vec B

For N=1 turn,

\vec \tau=I\vec A\times \vec B

Now, comparing with torque experienced by an electric dipole we get,

\vec M\times \vec B=I\vec A\times \vec B

\vec M=I\vec A.
