Magnetostriction oscillator ,why can we not use pnp transistor

Whether you will use NPN or PNP is always dependent on your usage..how you are using it…if you have a negative pulse that is required to trigger the base, then you can go for a PNP one,but if you have a positive pulse(example, 555 rectangular pulse) then a NPN one is preferable
