Mahadevi Verma is a strong advocate against animal cruelty. Her own experiences are quite relatable. When in Patna,she used to notice people selling birds in her lane.Pegions,parakeets and sparrows would peep out of their cages and cry when carried from one part of the city to another. She kept birds of several species.
