The rituals that are associated with this structure were performed by the kings of Vijayanagara, in order to show their power, prestige, and suzerainty. These rituals were possibly performed on the occasion of Mahanavami. Some of the rituals performed were:

a. Worship of the image and the state horse

b. The sacrifice of buffaloes and other animals

c. Dances, wrestling matches, and processions of horses and elephants along with chariots and soldiers. These were presentations before the king and his guests.

d. On the last day of the festival, there was a grand ceremony where the king inspected his and his Nayaks’ armies in an open field, where the Nayaks brought gifts and tributes for the king
