★ MAHATMA GANDHI NATIONAL RURAL EMPLOYMENT GUARANTEE ACT

(1) The MGNREGA is a employment generation scheme of the government of India for rural areas.
(2) This Act was passed in September 2005.
(3) The Central Government will establish funds for this scheme.
(4) State Governments will also establish state level funds for implementation of the scheme.
(5) It provides 100 days of wage employment every year to every rural household.
(6) One - third of the proposed jobs have been reserved for women.
(7) If an applicant is not provided employment within fifteen days, he or she will be entitled to unemployment allowance.

Mahatama Gandhi National Rural employment Guarantee act was passed in 2005.Its provisions are as follows :-
- The main objective of the act is to provide 100 days of work for rural employment.
- One third of the proposed jobs were reserved for women.
- If the government fails to give work it will give the employment allowances to the employees.
- It currently passed up to 600 districts.
