after the first world war Mohandas karamchand Gandhi took over the leadership of the Congress he introduced the technique of nonviolent agitation which was called Satyagraha -demand for truth. it was a non violent struggle against the British oppression. a propagated tolerance brotherhood nonviolence and simple living.
