Let the rations be 7x & 5x 

Then,

Mahesh ; 7x

Jayraj = 5x

7x+5x = $72

12x = $72

x = $72/12

x= 6

Mahesh = 7x = 7*6 = $42

Jayraj = 5x = 5*6 = $30

let the ratios be 7x and 5x.

therefore 7x + 5x = $72

==> 12x = $72

==> x = 72/12

==> x = 6

hence, Mahesh shares = 7x

= 7 × 6

= $42

jayraj shares = 5x

= 5 × 6

= $30

VERIFICATION :-

= $42 + $30

= $72

hence verified..
