Answer:

Rs.400 & Rs.600

Step-by-step explanation:

Let cost price of 1st shirt be Rs.x ; Cost Price of the 2nd shirt will be Rs. 1000-x.

1st shirt was sold at 12% loss; Selling Price of this shirt will be

(1-12/100)x = 0.88x

2nd shirt was sold at 8% gain; Selling Price of this shirt will be

(1+8/100)(1000-x) = 1080 - 1.08x

As selling both shirts did not result in either profit or loss:

1,000 = 0.88x + 1080 - 1.08x

Solving this will give us

0.20x = 80

x = 400

The 1st shirt costed Rs.400 and the 2nd shirt 1000-400 = Rs.600
