Given :  mahesh deposits a portion of ₹ 600 at 16% and the remaining at 18% per annum simple interest an annual income from the interest is ₹ 101.5

To find  : How much did he deposits at each rate

Solution:

Let say Portion deposited at 16 %  = A  Rs

then Portion deposited at  18% = 600 - A  Rs

Simple interest = P * R * T /100

Interest on Rs A  =     A  * 16 * 1 /100   = 16A/100   Rs

Interest on Rs 600 - A  =  (600 - A) * 18 * 1/100 = 108  -  18A/100  Rs

Total interest = 16A/100 + 108 - 18A/100 = 108  - 2A/100

108 - 2A/100  = 101.5

=> 2A/100  = 6.5

=> 2A = 650

=> A = 325

600 - A = 275

mahesh  Deposited RS 325 at 16 %   &  275 at 18 %
