We can assume that the edges of the depression in the cylinder are same as the edges of the cylinder.

Surface area of the cylinder = $2*\frac{22}{7} * 40 * 135 = 33,942.86 cm^2$

Surface area of the hemisphere = $2*\frac{22}{7} * 40 *40 = 10,057.14 cm^2$

Total surface area = 44,000 $cm^2$
