Answer:

42 cotton sarees

Step-by-step explanation:

profit on new cotton sarees=  rs. 100

loss on old sythetic sarees= rs. 40

loss on 80 synthetic sarees= 80x40

                                             = rs. 3200

let x be profit of earned by selling cotton sarees

A.T.Q

x-3200= Rs. 1000

x = 1000+3200

x= 4200

profit earned by selling cotton sarees = Rs.  4200

no. of cotton sarees sold = 4200/100

                                          = 42 cotton sarees

Answer :

  • Number of cotton saris he sold in this deal = 22

Given :

  • Mahesh is a sari dealer. he gets a profit of 100 by selling a cotton saris and loses 40 per sari by selling the old stock of synthetic saris
  • In a deal with a retailer, he last 1000 by selling 80 synthetic saris and few cotton saris

To find :

  • Number of cotton saris he sold in this deal

Solution :

  • Profit on selling one cotton sari = 100 Rupees
  • Loses on selling one synthetic sari = -40 Rupeess

Given that, he last 1000 by selling 80 synthetic saris and few cotton saris so,

  • -40 × 80 = -3200 Rupees

  • Let the number of cotton saris he sold in this deal be x

He gets a profit of 100 by selling a cotton sari so,

  • 100x

According to question :

➟ -3200 + 100x = - 1000

➟ 100x = 3200 - 1000

➟ 100x = 2200

➟ x = 2200/100

➟ x = 22

Hence ,Number of cotton saris he sold in this deal = 22

Verification :

➟ -3200 + 100x = - 1000

➟ -3200 + 100(22) = -1000

➟ -3200 + 2200 = -1000

➟ -1000 = -1000

Hence verified
