Let the number of Mangoes be x ( or any constant )

10% of x were damaged = 0.1x were damaged

Remaining mangoes = x - 0.1x = 0.9x

Mangoes used to make pickles = 0.4×0.9= 0.36x

According to Problem,

0.36x = 162

x= 450

He bought 450 mangoes.

Maybe the answer in the answer key is wrong, my answer is correct and I can never be wrong :')

Step-by-step explanation:

10 % of x =0.1×the mango was damaged

remaining mangoes=9.0

mangoes was damaged×remaning mangoes

0.1×9.0=0.36are remaining mangoes

total kg of mangoes=162

remaining×total kg of mangoes = 0.36×162

x=450 are write answer
