As given- by walking distance traveled by Mahesh =1\frac{1}{8}

The distance traveled by Mahesh by by walking   =1\frac{1}{8}  =\frac{9}{8} km.

The  total distance which is  traveled by Mahesh to reach  a city=     The distance traveled by Mahesh by bus + The distance traveled by Mahesh by walking

=\frac{7}{2} +\frac{9}{8}
