•Mahmud Ghazni was born on 2 November, 971 C.E.

•He was the first independent ruler of the dynasty of Ghaznavids.

•He ruled from 999 C.E. to 1030 C.E.

•Mahmud initiated the first of numerous invasions of North India. On 28 November, 1001 C.E. his army fought and defeated the army if Raja Jaypala at the Battle of Peshawar.

•In 1025 C.E., Mahmud Ghazni raided Gujarat, plundering the Somnath temple and breaking it's jyotirlinga. He looted a booty of 2 million Dinars.

•He died on 30 April, 1030 C.E. at the age of 58 years.

The most devastating invasion of Mahmud was the attack on the Somnath Temple in Kathiawar in 1025 A.D. It was his 16th invasion.

Mahmud Ghaznavi was the king of Ghazni who ruled from 971 to 1030 AD. He was the son of Subuktgeen. Attracted by India’s wealth, Gahznavi attacked India several times. In fact, Ghaznavi attacked India 17 times. The main objective of his attacks was to plunder the wealth of Ghaznavi.
