let the two no. be x and y.

therefore we get 2eq..

i.e x+y=64-------(1)

x-y=16----------(2)

now add eq (1)&(2)

we get

2x=48

x=48/2

x=24

now put the value of x in eq(1)

I.e x+y=64

24+y=64

y=64-24

y=40

so the 2 numbers are 24and 40...
