Answer :-

Let the age of Sam be x and age of Tino be y.

Sum of their age = 48

→ x + y = 48

Three years ago :-

→ Sam's age = x - 3

→ Tino's age = y - 3

According to the question -

→ ( x - 3 ) = 2 ( y - 3 )

→ x - 3 = 2y - 6

→ 2y - x = 6 - 3

→ 2y - x = 3

Now, we got 2 equations :-

→ x + y = 48 -i

→ 2y - x = 3 -ii

Adding equation i and ii :-

→ x + y + 2y - x = 48 + 3

→ 2y + y = 51

→ 3y = 51

→ y = 51 / 3

→ y = 17

Substituting the value in equation i :-

→ x + y = 48

→ x + 17 = 48

→ x = 48 - 17

→ x = 31

  • Sam's age = 31 years
  • Tino's age = 17 years
