The main characteristics ofvthe Brahmaputra river system are:-

1) It rises in the east of the lake Mansarowar very close to the sources of Indus and Satluj.

2) It flows eastwards parallel to the Himalayas.

3) It take 'u' turon reachingn the Namcha barwa and enters India in Arunachal Pradesh.

4) In Indai, the river carries a large volune of water and considerable amount of silt.

5) Every year during the rainy season the river overflows its banks.
