Difference between business and business environment
- Business and the environment are intimately intertwined. Environment and industry are in a perpetual state of "give and take." The company takes information, technology, and inputs from the environment and returns it as outputs (goods and services).
- The phrase "business environment" refers to the whole of all forces, factors, and institutions that are not under the direct control of any one particular business firm yet have a considerable impact on how well those businesses operate and develop.
- Converting inputs into outputs is the fundamental task of a business firm, which is accomplished by engaging actively with the environment. It takes in environmental inputs, transforms them into outputs using productive facilities that also take in environmental inputs, and then returns those products to the environment.
- These industries conduct business in the micro, market, and macro settings. The three business environments are to some extent under the control of the proprietors of these sectors.
