1.The surface of Mercury is very similar to our moon. It has a very barren, rocky surface covered with many craters.
2.Being so close to the Sun, the daytime temperature on Mercury is scorching - reaching over 400 Degrees Celsius.
3.At night however, without an atmosphere to hold the heat in, the temperatures plummet, dropping to -180 Degrees Celsius.
4.Mercury has a very low surface gravity
.5.Mercury has no atmosphere which means there is no wind or weather to speak of.
6.There is also no water on the surface of Mercury, it is possible however that there could be water underneath the surface.
7.Likewise, there is no air on the surface but it could be trapped underneath.

Mercury, the innermost planet, is 0.4 A.U. from the Sun on the average. It revolves about the Sun once every 88 days in an orbit that is the most elliptical of any planet except Pluto. The orbit of Mercury is clearly not circular. Its mass is 5.5% of the Earth's mass, which is 5 times the mass of the Moon .The density is 5.5 g/cc, the same as Earth, and it has a magnetic field that is about 1% of the strength of Earth's field. These facts suggest a differentiated interior with a large iron core, with the weakness of the magnetic field related in some way to the slow rotational period relative to the Earth. Its rotational period is 59 days.
