Rutherford's atomic model has following defect :
1.) it say that electron revolve around the nucleus but electron is negatively charged and due to electrodynamics when the moving charged particle revolve around the nucleus it emits energy in the form of radiation thus electrons loses all its energy and gradually fall into the nucleus but this does not happen.
2.) it fails to tell about how the electrons are arranged in the atom
it does not say any thing about the electronic configuration of atom.
hope this much will help you.
