Yes , I agree with this statement ! In the chapter , the last leaf , Johnsy had lost hope for living . She thought that when the last leaf of the ivy creeper would fall , she was going to die ! But , after Behrman painted the masterpiece , and it was the leaf , Johnsy realised that she had been very pessimistic and hence had lost interest in life . So , she promised her friend , Sue that she would live for her friends and her dear ones . This hope that wad built in her and the medicines helped her recover from pneumonia .
