People might feel that the intention behind the passage of such a law would be harmful to their interest and that the law is morally wrong and unjust. These are called unpopular laws. For example, Armed Forces Special power Act , which gives special powers to the armed forces to arrest anybody on mere suspicion in the states of North East and Jammu and Kashmir, is not acceptable to the people residing in those states and they want this law to be removed. Like wise, there may be some controversial laws passed by the Parliament which may favour a particular section of community. For example , In India we still do not have a uniform civil code, Muslims have separate personal laws which is not acceptable to the rest of the society members belonging to other communities.

Annually parliament introduces new laws that are known as unpopular laws. When these laws are not accepted by the people and are felt to be unfair they face criticism. Such laws which are unfair to any group are called controversial laws.

Individuals may feel that the expectation behind the entry of such a law would be hurtful to their advantage and that the law is ethically wrong and unreasonable. These are called unpopular laws. For instance, Armed Forces Special Power Act, which gives extraordinary forces to the military to capture anyone on minor doubt in the conditions of North East and Jammu and Kashmir, is not adequate to the general population dwelling in those states and they need this law to be expelled.

Like insightful, there might be some disputable or controversial laws go by the Parliament which may support a specific area of the group.
