Major division of agricultural regions of the world is associated with Whittlesey’s classification.
It is widely accepted and is based on a number of factors such as crop and livestock association, productivity, labour and capital intensity, consumption pattern of production, and methods and techniques used.
He classified it into 10 regions viz. nomadic herding, livestock ranching, commercial dairy farming, commercial crop and livestock farming, commercial grain farming, etc.
