The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), on Wednesday, issued revised guidelines on the measures to be taken by ministries, government departments, state and Union Territory (UT) governments for the containment of COVID19.
In a major relief to the common man, several relaxations have been granted in phase two of the lockdown till May 3. Hotels, homestays catering to those stranded due to the lockdown have been exempted.
However, wearing of face cover is compulsory in all public places and workplaces. Spitting in public places shall be punishable with a fine. All public transport remains suspended and schools and colleges will remain shut for the duration of the coronavirus lockdown till May 3.
"To mitigate hardship to the public, select additional activities have been allowed which will come into effect from 20th April. 2020. These limited exemptions will be operationalized by states! UTs / district administrations based on strict compliance to the existing guidelines," the MHA directive noted.
The revised guidelines with relaxations will come into effect from April 20.
