During the first world war the British urged the Congress even the Gandhiji asked the Gujarathi peasants to follow the British to win swaraj. But the movements like Rowlatt Act,Kilafat Wrongs and Jallianwala Bagh Tragedy greatly disillusioned Gandhiji and he turned from a cooperater to a non cooperate and started a movement known as Non-cooperation movement. Non-cooperation means 'one does not obey the evil-deor' and he asked the Gujarathi peasants to don't follow the British. He said working with British is as much as working with goods.
