A cell is the basic structural and functional unit of life.

Robert Hooke discovered the Cell.

According to the Cell Theory

  • Cell is the basic unit of all life
  • All cells are made up of pre existing cells by cell division

Cells are of two types

  • Plant Cell
  • Animal Cell

Plant Cell

  • The Cell Wall is the rigid outermost layer.
  • The vacuoles are large
  • Centriosomes with centrioles are absent
  • Chloroplast helps them at photosynthesis .
  • Cytoplasm is not very dense and granular.

Animal Cell

  • Cell membrane is the outermost layer.
  • Centriosomes with centrioles are present
  • Vacuoles are small
  • Chloroplast is absent
  • Cytoplasm is dense and granular.
