•Khadar is newer alluvium. Bhangar is older alluvium.

•Khadar is usually light brown in colour. The colour of bhangar ranges from deep brown to black.

•Khadar is composed of fine silt and clay. Bhangar contains kankars and pebbles.

Comparison between khadar and bhangar:-

Bhangar-

  1. Bhangar is older alluvial soil.
  2. Large parts of the Northern plains are formed on bhangar soil.
  3. It is less fertile than khadar soil.

Khadar-

  1. It is new and younger deposits of alluvial soil.
  2. It is found on the flood plains.
  3. It is more fertile than bhangar.
