Answer:

The United Nation is an international organisation founded in 1945 after the failure of the League of Nations which was formed to maintain international peace and security and it failed to prevent World War II. The UN is formed after the destruction of world war II and its task is to main international peace and security and harmony between the Nation States. Over 193 nations are party to it. It works through several agencies and committees, each performing particular task they are given. e.g., the WHO (World Health Organisation) is responsible for taking care of the health of people and vaccination against deadly diseases. It provides relief to people affected by disaster and famine. The United Nations has three organs.

The General Assembly (legislative part) - It makes policies and holds sessions.

Security Council (Executive)- It is responsible for implementing decisions and taking actions against any member state who violates the resolutions and principles of UN.

The International Court of Justice (Judiciary) - It resolves disputes between nation states and gives advisory opinion to the UN.

This is the most formal and organised system the world has ever witnessed. The member states have obligations toward their commitment and by International conventions, and treaties Nation states maintain harmony between and among them. It has significantly contributed to peace in the World. It has taken aggressive actions to maintain peace and imposed sanctions on violators. The difficulties, however, arise as the superpower nations being major stakeholders in the UN gets to escape with the obligations and violate the principles of UN, the stiff structure of permanent member since 1945 also shows the favoritism in the organisation.
