Make a data of any five trains starting from Delhi and going to different states (any five) in

India.

(a) Distance covered.

(b) Displacement (you can make use of Atlas to find displacement.)

(c) Average time taken to reach the destination

(d) and hence find the average speed of each train.

Disclaimer: This question seems a bit ambiguous and incomplete.

Concept:

Displacement is the linear distance between two points in space.

Average Speed = Distance Travelled/ Time Taken

Given:

The starting point of the trains in Delhi and the data of the 5 cities (destination) are as follows:

____________________________________________________

Destination     Distance(km)      Displacement(km)       Time (hr)

Jaipur              235                         264                                5.24

Indore                670                         824                                15.40

Ludhiana           280                         312                                 5

Lucknow            418                         475                                  8

Kolkata              1300                        1453                               17

____________________________________________________

To Find: Average Speed

Solution:

Avg. Speed Jaipur:  264/5.24= 50.38 kmph

Avg. Speed Indore: 824/15.40= 53.50 kmph

Avg. Speed Ludhiana:  312/5= 62.4 kmph

Avg. Speed Lucknow:  475/8=59.37 kmph

Avg. Speed Kolkata:  1453/17= 85.47 kmph

Hence we have calculated the average speed of all the trains. If we had to calculate average velocity we would have used displacement instead of distance.
