Diary entry about my thoughts on Mahatma Gandhi

January 30, 2020

10.30 pm

Dear Diary,

It has been a tiring day. Finally I am back to bed. I was thinking for a while about our Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi who fought for the freedom of our country. His method of Ahimsa or non-violence inspires me a lot.

All the means of struggle undertaken by him are different from the rest. Some of them are The Dandi March, Non-Cooperation Movement, etc. His four principles- Truth, Non-violence, welfare of all and peaceful protest teaches and inspires to lead our battles without resorting to war.

Like we know," an eye for an eye makes the world blind", we should resort to such non-violent means even in case of struggle. He was indeed of man of respect. That's all for today. I shall update you tomorrow again.

Good night!

Dear Diary,

Mahatma Gandhi is remembered as the father of the nation. His way of life is influential and an inspiration for many in world. His importance is seen on his main principle that is ‘My life is my message’. He is a man who practiced what is being preached by him. Today many people find no connection in what they preach and in what they practice. Gandhi stands as a role model for us to practice what we say.

Along with that, his quality of simplicity is to be remembered. Gandhiji's saying that there is enough in the world for man's need but not for man’s greed also reflected in his life. This world is a world of greediness and abundance. We buy more and spend more. We have a lot of things that are actually not necessary for us. On seeing the products, we just take them even without thinking whether it is essential for us or not. In that context, we need to promote Gandhi’s way of simplicity in our lives too.

Another important lesson we get from Mahatma Gandhi is Ahimsa or non violence. Today man kills another for some personal gains. People even kill each other mentally. Gandhiji inspires us to observe the practice of ahimsa in our lives.

Gandhiji made some meaningful interventions that gave a result of the Independence of India. This conveys the idea that we should also make meaningful relevant intervention when injustices are seen. We have to make meaningful intervention as that can be an initiative to a great change.

Mahatma Gandhi teaches the way of simple life, ahimsa and meaningful intervention whenever necessary. Even today, Gandhi is remembered for his works and words. He is also inspiring many to lead a meaningful life.

Good Night.
