Mysore District is located in the southern part of the state of Karnataka.

The Mysore is bounded to the east and northeast with Chamrajanagar district to the southeast.

Some of the Cereals such as Rice, Bajar, Maize, Jowar,

Wheat, Ragi and Minor Millets are grown here.

Many pulses that includes Tur, Bengalgram, Horsegram, Blackgram, are also grown.

Earlier Kingdom of Tipu Sultan known as Sultanate Khudadad Mysore was an agricultural state. Ragi was the main cereal of the people of Mysore. Rice too was grown around Sringapatam. The forests were abundant with Timber and Rosewood trees and it is even today.  

It is a fact that Mysore was not so prominent in India earlier and it became well known. In Europe, people knew Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan and the industries established by them. Thus, the name of the state of Mysore became prominent.
